The Walter + Mona Lutz Gallery features bamboo artwork from China, Japan, and Korea, countries where bamboo is admired for its strength, flexibility, elegance, and unwavering spirit. Woven baskets, carved images, and cleverly devised implements are among the bamboo objects exhibited in the gallery, where thematic displays highlight selections from the Lutz Bamboo Collection’s more than one thousand works and an exceptional group of contemporary Japanese baskets given by the children of Paul M. Hoff Jr. All the objects demonstrate the beauty, versatility, and significance of bamboo in East Asia.
