Bounded by the Himalayas to the west and China to the north, Southeast Asia encompasses Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries. The Southeast Asia Gallery includes sculpture, painting, ceramics, and metalwork, with a significant selection of Hindu and Buddhist art. A wooden image of Garuda with outspread wings and a temple hanging depicting the life of the Buddha are among the works on display. Specific Southeast Asian objects are incorporated into the Buddhist Art Gallery and the Everyday Traditions Gallery.
